As the internet users all over the world is on rise there is also an equal rise in the cyber crime rate as many people try to exploit the innocence of people with their cunning knowledge to cheat you.
I remember one of my friend’s dad being scammed by someone in Nigeria for $5k stating that he is grand son of someone who owned a Goldmine there and his Grandpa deposited the money on a swiss bank and he needs someone’s help to keep those money safely and he assured him that he will give 40% of the total deposit to him and keep the rest for himself. Now he was not aware that these people are all over internet and keep sending bulk mails to people scamming the ones who respond.
Cyber crimes are not only limited these there are also many other varieties where people tend to steal your credit numbers and use it without your knowledge, phishing accounts and so on. So I decided to make a general list of things that you should avoid to enhance your cyber safety.
1. Don’t give away your credit card numbers to small dealers and vendors on the street even if the product you are buying is from a reputed company, still the guy you are giving the credit card details to just a small dealer whom you cannot trust.
2. Make sure your credit card with in your view when you hand over your credit cards somewhere and the person is not trying to do something suspicious by hiding it from your sight for a while under some table or some place where you cannot possibly look at your credit card. Reason is there are people who use some photographic devices to take a snapshot of your credit card and credit card number so that they can use it illegally without your knowledge.

3. Don’t disclose your credit card numbers to an unknown person or disclose it over instant messaging services or in a public chat room.
4. Make sure when you enter your credit numbers they have secured server url, normally all the url starts with http:// secured servers have an url with https:// so just make sure the url they provide does have a secured connection otherwise don’t trust those sites.
5. Don’t let you kids to handle your credit cards.
6. Don’t disclose your personal details to someone unless you know the person very well and where he belongs.
7. Don’t let your desires to over power you when you are thrown up with a tempting offer, just make sure to get more details about the offer before you take a step forward.
8. Don’t give away your mobile to some stranger who wants to make an urgent call, there are public booths all over just ask that person to use one.

9. Always lock your mobile with a password and don’t give away your mobile numbers everywhere.
10. Make sure to turn on your wifi connections only when you are using internet and turn it off on other times.
11. Use a reputed anti virus software and malware detecting tools and update them regularly.
12. Make sure to check your computer for malwares and viruses once in a week, if your computer slows down or you experience any slowness in your internet connections there is possibility of a malware activity.
13. Just spread the word of caution to everyone you know as awareness of the possible risks can avoid unnecessary problems to you and your friends.
